ArgRE: Formal Argumentation for Conflict Resolution in Multi-Agent Requirements Negotiation

This paper presents ArgRE, a novel framework that applies formal argumentation to resolve conflicts in multi-agent requirements negotiation. As modern software systems increasingly employ multiple AI agents to support requirements engineering, conflicting viewpoints and competing quality requirements become inevitable. ArgRE provides a principled argumentation-based mechanism that enables agents to exchange, evaluate, and resolve conflicting requirements through structured reasoning. By integrating formal argumentation with multi-agent negotiation, the proposed framework improves the transparency, consistency, and explainability of AI-assisted requirements engineering, supporting more reliable and trustworthy software development.
